Buckeye Greenspace and Public Art Discussion

Last week, our friends at LAND studio helped facilitate a conversation about community space and public art along Buckeye Road. Together, the group envisioned hanging gardens, giant murals, arts programming on balconies, parades, healthy food options and resident-owned businesses. It was a great time and produced some great energy.

But that conversation isn't over quite yet. LAND studio is coming back for a second round of community conversation - and we want to hear from you!

What are your favorite things about Buckeye? What do you think we need to make our community even stronger? How can we build public spaces in the neighborhood that have benefit everyone in the community? And what do we need to make these visions a reality?

Join us for this engaging and fun conversation about the past, present and future of Buckeye. Come prepared with your ideas, your stories and your voice. Let's build something incredible together!

Interactive Art Installation - Closing

Earlier this month, artist and Buckeye advocate Daniel McNamara opened his exhibit Race in America: Biological Fiction - Social Fact. If you didn't attend, you missed masks, tunnels, historical documents and the opportunity to weigh in on the topic of race on typewriters and in drawings.

But now you have a second opportunity to participate in this important conversation about race in America, our city and in our neighborhood.

Join us for the closing party for the exhibit, featuring food, festivities - and the opportunity to have your voice heard on issues of race and the future of Buckeye. It promises to be an important (but still fun!) discussion for our community. Please come out and participate!

Resident-to-Resident Dialogue

Dawn Arrington has spent a lot of time thinking about what it takes to be a good neighbor - the emotional and financial investment needed to move her Buckeye neighborhood forward.

Now Dawn is using her background in the arts and creative writing to make that exploration even bigger.

Join us for an exciting night of "community crafting" - a series of arts activities designed to get conversations going about what Buckeye has, what the community needs ... And how everyday people can make the difference. It's a fun and easy way to get to know your neighbors - and have a positive impact at the same time. Don't miss out on this important conversation!

Martial Arts and Mindfulness

Here's your second chance to experience David Smeltz's unique martial arts training!

David grew up around culture - music, theatre, Tai Chi ... Culture was embedded into the fabric of everyday life.

Now, David's breathing culture into Clean House, Inc., a Buckeye-based community facility that will support individuals working their way through drug and alcohol recovery. A central part of the Clean House model is supporting that process through regular martial arts and meditation training - both for residents of Clean House and the broader community.

In this free class, David will be sharing that incredible training at Passport Project. Come learn the basics of Liu Seong Gungfu, Kuntao and Tai Chi ... and explore how being mindful can positively impact your mind, body and soul. You don't want to miss this experience!

Can't make it to the event but want to support Clean House's mission? Consider purchasing David's book or making a donation to the nonprofit.
